About Our Church

Salem First Baptist History

We are a community focused church with a distinctly Baptist background.

One of the oldest churches in the area, we were founded in 1844.

"The United Baptist Church of Christ at Salem was established November 16, 1844 from an arm of the Baptist Church of Christ of Cheohee (which was established in 1830)."

Salem First Baptist was established in hope, and continues to be a most hopeful church!

We are truly one of the friendliest churches in Upper Oconee County!

What We Believe

Our beliefs are closely aligned with historic and traditional Christian statements of faith. Our specifically Baptist beliefs are guided by the Bible and are condensed in a statement of beliefs called the Baptist Faith and Message. A link to this document is provided below:

About Our Worship Services

We are informal in our worship style.

People dress casually and comfortably.

We sing hymns and new worship songs.

The Pastor brings a relevant message from the Bible.

We pray for one another.

We usually end our service near 12 noon.
